Alterations
Know what to expect as the alterations process is outlined step by step — from first contact to taking home your finished garment.
We believe planning ahead makes the process smoother. Our price list is organized by garment type — Wedding Gowns – Special Occasion – Suit/ Casual Wear – Personalization Options — and shows typical median pricing. The level of difficulty is determined at your fitting after we assess the work needed.
Planning Tips for a Smooth Experience
Most additional fees can be avoided with a little planning. Brides who schedule their appointments early (our calendar often fills months in advance), come in 2–3 months before the wedding, bring their shoes and undergarments, and try their gown on again a few weeks before the event usually have the smoothest timeline.
We’ll guide you through each step so there are no surprises.
Scheduling Your Appointments
To ensure the best fit and a smooth timeline, we recommend scheduling your first fitting 2–3 months before your event date.
Consultations are $30 and include a professional fit assessment, timeline planning, and discussion of alteration options. They are completely optional and simply offered for those who would like a little extra guidance.
• Please schedule one appointment per dress you plan to bring
• If bringing multiple gowns, booking appointments back-to-back is helpful
• Booking earlier than 3 months is possible, but body size can naturally change closer to the wedding
Because our calendar fills quickly, many clients choose to book several months in advance to secure a spot. Appointments open six months ahead of time.
After scheduling your fitting, we recommend booking your pickup appointment right away, typically 2–3 weeks after your fitting. This helps ensure your gown is completed on time.
We prefer to see brides 2–3 months before the wedding for the most accurate fit. If you would like your alterations completed earlier, we’re happy to help — just keep in mind that any additional sewing needed after pickup may require an additional charge.
Designer-Led Appointment
For clients who would like their fitting personally guided by Kendra, a $30 Designer Appointment may be scheduled to reserve her time.
Rush Timeline Fees
If your timeline is shorter than ideal, rush fees may apply:
• Under 2 weeks: 10% rush fee
• Under 10 days: 20% rush fee
• Pickup appointments outside normal availability: 40% overtime fee
We’ll review your timeline together at your fitting and let you know if any fees apply. If your schedule falls within these guidelines, you’re all set.Consultations are $30 and include a professional fit assessment, timeline planning, and discussion of alteration options. They are completely optional and available for those who would like guidance before scheduling a fitting.
Preparing for Your Appointment
To get the most accurate fit and length, please plan to bring the items you’ll wear on your event day:
• Shoes (or a pair with a similar heel height)
• Undergarments, slips, or shapewear you’re considering
If you’re still deciding, feel free to bring a few returnable options to try on with your gown.
We’ve found that many brides do not need a traditional bra, as bra cups can often be added during alterations. There’s no need to purchase these in advance — we carry multiple types in stock.
If your dress is fitted through the hips, shapewear (such as Spanx) can be especially helpful for achieving a smooth fit.
These items can affect both the fit and the hem length, so bringing them to your appointment helps us make the most accurate adjustments the first time.
If shoes (exact or approximate height) are not available at your fitting, an additional appointment may be needed to properly complete the hem:
• Full additional appointment: $60
• Hem-only pinning appointment: $30
Day of Your Appointment
Please plan to arrive on time with your dress, shoes, and undergarments. These items help us achieve the most accurate fit during your fitting.
If you’re running late, please give us a quick call or text so we can plan accordingly. If you need to reschedule, you may do so through the link at the bottom of your confirmation email. We’ll do our best to fit you into the next available appointment.
Appointments typically last:
• 30 minutes for a special occasion dress
• 1 hour for a wedding gown
During your fitting, all pricing will be explained and you’ll receive a clear breakdown of the recommended alterations. We’ll also confirm the pickup appointment time you previously scheduled.
Pickup Appointment
Please arrive on time for your pickup appointment with your shoes and undergarments so we can ensure the final fit is just right.
Pickup appointments typically take:
• 15 minutes for special occasion dresses
• 30 minutes for wedding gowns
Minor adjustments may occasionally be needed. If so, we’ll schedule a brief follow-up appointment to complete those final details.
If everything looks and feels perfect, you’ll be able to take your garment home with you at that time.
Once a garment has been taken home, any additional sewing or fit changes requested later will be treated as new work and may include additional charges.
The remaining balance will be due at your pickup appointment. We accept cash or check (preferred), credit card, Venmo, or PayPal. A 2.5% discount is offered for payments made by cash or check.
We recommend trying your dress on again about 3 weeks before your event. This allows time for any last adjustments, if needed, and helps avoid rush fees.
Then all that’s left to do is enjoy your event!
Our Promise
Each gown is finished with care and attention to detail to help ensure you look and feel your best on your wedding day. We reinforce seams and attachments wherever needed, but wedding dresses naturally experience hours of movement, hugs, dancing, and the added weight of a bustle. Because of this, on rare occasions, small elements such as a hook, button, or loop may shift or come loose.
If something appears to have come undone due to workmanship, we’re always happy to take a look and make it right. Your peace of mind matters to us.
